EVA SINOPEC Yanshan Petrochemical 18J3

EVA SINOPEC Yanshan Petrochemical 18J3

Product Introduction EVA SINOPEC Yanshan Petrochemical 18J3 is a foaming‑grade ethylene‑vinyl‑acetate copolymer plastic with VA content of 18% (SH/T 1591‑1994). It features high elasticity, good softness, chemical resistance, excellent foaming performance, favorable softness and elasticity.

Main Applications

Foamed Products: Its core application field. It is commonly used for shoe materials such as soles and insoles, sports goods including sports mats and yoga mats, as well as packaging materials. Its superior foaming performance enables production of lightweight products with good cushioning properties.

Wire and Cable: Suitable for sheath materials of wires and cables, especially for applications requiring high flexibility, such as halogen‑free flame‑retardant cables and semiconductor shielded cables.

Masterbatch Carrier: Can be used as carrier resin for color masterbatches and functional masterbatches to facilitate dispersion of additives.

Other Applications: Also applicable to injection‑molded articles, soft toys, hot‑melt adhesives and other fields.

Processing Technology

Foaming Molding It is the primary processing method for manufacturing lightweight foamed articles such as shoe soles and padding materials. Chemical foaming agents such as AC foaming agent are generally added during processing. Cross‑linking agents such as DCP may also be added to optimize cell structure and product performance. Processing temperature shall match the decomposition temperature of foaming agents, generally around 160‑180°C. Compression foaming process is generally adopted.

Extrusion Molding Used for manufacturing wire‑cable sheaths, films, sheets and other products. Extruder temperature from feeding zone to die is generally set at 120‑160°C (for reference only; adjust according to specific equipment and products). Screw design: Gradient‑type screw with moderate L/D ratio such as 24:1 is recommended.

Injection Molding Used for non‑foamed injection‑molded articles. Barrel temperature: Recommended range 150‑200°C. Some references mention melting temperature range of 220‑260°C; however this temperature may be excessively high. It is recommended to start from lower temperature in practical operation to avoid VA decomposition. Mold temperature: Recommended range 20‑50°C. Injection pressure and speed: Adjust according to product shape and dimension; medium injection pressure and speed are preferred.
